The gi is typically composed of a heavy cotton jacket, reinforced drawstring trousers, and a belt which communicates rank. According to article 8 of IBJJF rules, the gi must be constructed of cotton or similar material and be in good condition. The material may not be excessively thick or hard to the point where it will obstruct the opponent.
Traditionally, gi pants are made of a sturdy cotton canvas, or denim with reinforced seams/knees. Tough and lightweight materials have started to become more popular in recent years as cooler hot weather gis have become more popular. It is common in tournaments to see competitors wearing rips top pants with a standard cotton gi top.
First off, I would like to say this gi is absolutely amazing! Definitely a high quality product at an affordable price.
I had my reservations about the size, I have a mesomorph body type (broad shoulders and skinny waist) and couldn't decide if I needed an A2 or A3 based on my measurements.I decided to get size A3 and it was the perfect choice! The jacket fit very well and the sleeves fell right at the wrist. The collar is very crisp, great for getting choked out; only until it gets nice and broken in. The pants were obviously big in the waist, but that is what the rope tie is for. I really like the front belt loops.
I usually do a 3-5 washes in hot water and high heat drying to shrink it to my liking. After two cycles, it fits like a glove and hits an inch above my wrist and the pants at the ankle bone.
This gi will definitely last a long time, just be sure to take care of it and wash cold and hang dry after shrinking.
Now get rolling!!
Super comfortable, breathable, and overall great quality GI!!
I got this Gi today and I really like it. As a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teacher and competitor I always look for a product with the best quality and this one is for sure one of the best that I have. If you are looking for a durable and perfect fit Gi this is the product to go for. I would recommend to my students and friends.
I'm so glad I went ahead and bought this Gi, I need a Gi for competition , so I don't have to cut to much weigh, It will save me around 2 lbs in relation to a normal GI. Feels very good and looks good.
Awesome product. Train one to two times a day four days a week or more. I was these gis every time after training session and dry them completely. I have several of these gis and the only shrink a tiny bit.
